If you are considering a raised bed for your garden or project, we are happy to talk things through early, even if you are still exploring ideas or only have a rough sense of size and placement.
Durable Yakisugi raised beds
Architectural timber, refined by design
Western Red Cedar and Douglas Fir are charred by the Yakisugi process, brushed to reveal the grain, and sealed with a three-part 0 VOC oil system. Hand finishing gives every surface a precise balance of texture, protection, and elegance.
Visible engineering, purposeful detail
Stainless fixings arranged with measured repetition provide both structure and rhythm. Each wide washer head secures the charred timber with precision and enduring strength, adding a deliberate visual accent that defines the beds.
Sustainability through process, not marketing
Char and oil finishes preserve the timber’s natural character while shielding it from weather and decay. The Yakisugi surface endures season after season, proving that true sustainability lies in method, not slogans.
Every garden, space, and project places different demands on a raised bed.
Some need to sit quietly within a planting scheme, others define the structure of a space. Size, exposure, access, longevity, and visual presence all vary, which is why our work is bespoke by design, shaped around each setting rather than a fixed product.
Crafted to endure, designed to inspire
Every surface is shaped through the Yakisugi process, where controlled flame and brushing reveal the natural grain while strengthening the timber beneath. The result is a sealed, weather-resistant surface that matures with time, catching light differently throughout the day and inviting touch.

The same surface that protects the timber also reveals its beauty, proof that true sustainability can be both functional and elegant.
How a bespoke raised bed takes shape
Our work is not designed to fit a catalogue. It is designed to fit your space.
Every project begins with a conversation, not a commitment. This is how we work together.
Initial conversation
We talk through your space, ideas, and constraints to understand what you’re trying to achieve, whether you’re early in the process or ready to move forward.
Design considerations
Dimensions, placement, materials, and finish are explored in response to your setting, with practical guidance offered where needed.
Build and delivery
Once a direction is agreed upon, your raised bed is handcrafted. We work across Dorset and the surrounding counties, where we will deliver and install your new raised bed.
